Merger with Brabners Chaffe Street 15 Mar 2010

BRABNERS CHAFFE STREET PRIVATE CLIENT DEPARTMENT STRENGTHENED BY MERGER

Leading North West law firm Brabners Chaffe Street has announced a merger with private client specialist, David Bishop & Co.

Formby-based sole practitioner David Bishop will join Brabners Chaffe Street’s 22-strong private client department, which was recently ranked as one of the top 25 in the UK by Private Client Practitioner – the only law firm in the North West of England to make the cut.

David Bishop & Co was founded ten years ago and provides wills, tax planning and trust advise to regional, national and international clients. From the 19th April, David will be based in Brabners Chaffe Street’s Liverpool office.

Mark Feeny, head of the private client department at Brabners Chaffe Street, said: “David Bishop has built a loyal client base and a leading reputation amongst the local intermediary community on the back of his extensive private client experience.

“The decision to merge with Brabners Chaffe Street is recognition of our strength in this area and presents an exciting proposition for existing clients of both firms.”

David Bishop said: “The work undertaken by Mark and his private client team is second to none and combining our skills will bring considerable strategic benefits to the enlarged private client practice. I also look forward to re-joining a number of my former partners who joined Brabners Chaffe Street after I had left to set up my own firm”

Mark Brandwood, Managing Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street, added: “This latest merger forms part of our strategy to continue to invest in key practice areas in order to drive the firm’s expansion.”

Brabners Chaffe Street currently employs 380 people across its Liverpool, Manchester and Preston offices and specialises in corporate, commercial, employment, litigation, property and sports law as well as private client work.

The combined firm will operate as Brabners Chaffe Street.

In May last year the firm completed a merger with Liverpool-based Bremners Solicitors in order to create one of the legal sector’s largest and most experienced specialist social housing teams representing over 75 organisations
